The Mediterranean round includes news from the Essex League, Surrey Masters Champs and Manchester University Relays.

Gloucester Park played host to the first of a weekend double for Adam Hickey, who won here first time out over Joseph Grange Jr, before winning at Leigh-on-Sea less than 10km 24 hours later.

Kate O’Neill, the 2020 cross-country junior bronze medallist, competed in the women’s race and returned to the UK this autumn after racing in the United States, where she had a good run of indoor distance races.

MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY RELAYS, Wythenshawe, 26 October

The University of Birmingham took the top two spots in the men’s race last year, but went one better this time around, taking home the top three teams of six.

Tyler Billiard, the BUCS 1500m champion, ran fastest overall after beating his University of Birmingham team-mate Brett Rushman, who was on their D team, as they both ran the first 3km.

The dominance wasn’t quite the same in the women’s race as the Birmingham team also came out on top and their Jess Bailey comfortably set the fastest lap midway through the race.
