BCCI updates IPL 2026 auction list with 9 new players including Swastik Chikara
Hours after announcing the official shortlist of 350 players, BTSO released a revised document, adding nine players to 359, increasing the final list to 359. Among these supplements, the most high-profile name is the unripe Indian fruit Swastik Chikarawho is not surprising from the initial list despite being part of the title winning Royal Paintings Bengaluru (RCB) Squad in IPL 2025 season. His early association with a championship team and his impressive performances in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League made his initial release a public talking point.
New local and docent talent at base price
Most of the nine new players are Indian, further strengthening the local talent pool for the auction. These include five additional unsecured Indian cricketers. Especially Kl shrijitha wicket-keeper batsman from Karnataka who represented earlier Mumbai Indians (mi)was added. Other local names that made the final cut are from Tripura Manisankar MurasinghHyderabad Chama milindof Uttarakhand Rahul Raj Namala and jharkhand’s Virat Singh. Milind and Singh are not new to the IPL circuit as both have previous experience in the league.

Foreign confident and strategic base prices
The three foreign players who were added at the last minute are placed at a slightly higher base price, reflecting their international experience and value. Australia comprehensive Chris green and South African fast bowler Bethany Bosch (Mi’s brother Corbin Bosch) 75 Lakhs in the auction for both and Malaysia’s Virayseep Singh was set to be the only partner in the auction list. That price point suggests franchises view them as valuable, experienced tactical options rather than premium, big-money takers.
A separate, top-class addition is the veteran South African Wicket-keeper-batsman Quinton de Kock Although not initially registered, a franchise is also included in the special request. A back-to-back match winner, De Kock priced it at Rs 1 crore, a deliberate step up from the previous auction list, presumably to make it more attractive to potential buyers and for the auction-table table procedure.

The BCCI also corrected an administrative error regarding the leg-spinner’s list Nikhil Chaudharyshifting his citizenship to Australia before becoming Indian, affecting the team’s overseas quota, though the base price remains at 40 Lakhs. These final adjustments make way for the December 16 auction. According to media reports, the auction may skip the traditional marquee set of players and instead go directly with the closed set of batsmen, a move that could see aggressive bidding for players like India’s top-tier entrants of Rs 2 crore, which include venkatsh iyer and ravi bishnoi. Late additions, especially those with the lowest base prices, offer teams depth at a very cheap price to fill the final 77 class slot.
