In a significant move to encourage and increase recognition of local cricketers Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the introduction of prize money for outstanding performers in junior and women’s cricket competitions. The new initiative, announced by the BCCI Secretary on August 26, will see financial awards given to Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all domestic women’s and junior cricket competitions.
Prize money for local cricketers
In an article, Jay Shah He said that under the Domestic Cricket Programme, prize money will be presented for Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women’s and Youth Cricket tournaments.

Payout for major tournaments
He also added that the prize money will be given to the best player of the match Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournaments for Senior Men. This initiative aims to reward outstanding local performances.
