The BBC’s Decished Boxing earns a seat on the Saturday Night Table, and works with Boxxer to stream battles on BBC iPlayer and air it on a good Old Free-to-Air TV. That’s right – you don’t have to pay £ 20 on PPV to look at an excessive letters. For now.
These are not just the most important battles. They will have some underscoring attacks, behind the scenes, and some filler functions across the BBC Sport website and app. Sounds nice, but most of us just want decent battles without three hours and half -time Montages who seem to have been made for the Six Nations.
BBC says box is back – but will someone care?
Alex Kay-Jelski of BBC Sport is already beating himself on the back, talking about the box to ‘younger audiences’ and giving them ‘the next generation’ of fighters. The ‘next generation’ is wonderful and everything, but as the garbage of the matchmaking, no one will stay past the three. This sport needs blood, drama and real competition-not just a bright set and a pre-fighting panel.
Shalom promises the ‘greatest possible audience’ – yes we’ve heard it before
Boxxer -Baas Ben Shalom calls it ‘historically’ and says that they will bring the most ‘entertaining’ fighters to the largest audience. Translation: They will try to make stars without risking them too soon. Hopefully that means real 50/50 fights instead of another unbeaten child against a taxi driver with six losses in a row.
It can be a win for fans … if they don’t fill it with safe matchmaking and stuffed records. BBCs have the platform, Boxxer’s has the fighters – let’s see if they have the intestines to feed fights worth watching. Or will it be another over -products on Saturday night snoozefest?
