Bayern Munich kick off their 2024/25 Champions League campaign on Tuesday evening, hosting Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb at the Allianz Arena.
The Bundesliga giants reached the semi-finals of the competition last season and were minutes away from setting one up classic final with Borussia Dortmund before falling to a late defeat at Real Madrid.
However, this season marks a new start for Bayern under former Burnley manager Vincent Kompany. The rather inexperienced manager has made a dream start in Bavaria, winning all of his competitive games so far. The most recent triumph was a 6-1 thrashing of newly promoted Holstein Kiel on Saturday.
Dinamo Zagreb did not enjoy such a positive start in their last clash on Friday, losing to Hajduk Split 1-0 on derby day. The result leaves them third in the Croatian first division after six matches and without a win in two games.

Kompany has an incredibly strong squad to choose from on Tuesday, despite injuries to the Bayern camp Summer recruit Hiroki Ito is still sidelined, while Josip Stanisic, Tarek Buchmann and Arijon Ibrahimovic are all sidelined.
Leroy Sané returned to the bench on Saturday and should be able to play some role against Dinamo Zagreb. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, Jamal Musiala scored after 15 seconds and Michael Olise scored his first competitive goal for Bayern in the win over Holstein Kiel.
Bayern Munich’s predicted line-up against Dinamo Zagreb (4-2-3-1): new; Boey, Upamecano, Kim, Davies; Kimmich, Palhinha; Olise, Musiala, Coman; Kane.
Sergej Jakirovic has some dilemmas ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Germany after two games without a win. Admittedly, they were games against Dinamo’s biggest title rivals this season.
Ex-Juventus winger Marko Pjaca could be involved from the start and Bruno Petkovic will lead the line. However, Jakirovic must decide how defensive he wants his set-up to be at the other end of the pitch, with Dinamo typically favoring a 4-2-3-1 system.
Dinamo Zagreb predicted lineup against Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Snowy; Ristovski, Theophile-Catherine, Mmaee, Pierre-Gabriel; Sucic, Ademi; Kulenovic, Baturina, Pjaca; Petkovic.
So far so good for Kompany at Bayern, with four competitive games to start his reign in Munich. The weekend’s 6-1 win saw the German giants flex their attacking muscles, scoring 11 goals in the opening three. Bundesliga matches
The fearsome attacking quality that Bayern possess will undoubtedly spell trouble for Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday, although Jakirovic’s side boast a fairly strong defensive record this early in the season. They can dream of a point or more in Bavaria, but it’s likely to be Dinamo’s defeat.
