Baroda broke records in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 match against Sikkim. They scored a mammoth 349-5.
Bhanu Pania, who has been in fine form throughout the season, top scored with 134 off just 51 balls. He hit 5 fours and 15 sixes during his innings. Apart from Pania, other batsmen like Shashwat Rawat, Abhimanyu Singh, Shivalik Sharma and Vishnu Solanki have also hit the majors.
The fact that Baroda have achieved this milestone without their opener Hardik Pandya speaks volumes about their batting talent. Skipper Krunal Pandya was also not asked to bat that day.
Baroda reach their highest T20 score in a brilliant batting display
The score of 349-5 is the highest score in the history of T20 cricket. This broke Zimbabwe’s recent record of 344-4 against Gambia in the T20 World Cup 2026 Africa region qualifiers.

Baroda achieved this feat without their two key cricketers Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya at the moment. Hardik did not play this match when Krunal was not asked to bat.
But other players like Bhanu Pania grabbed the limelight with their excellent performances with the bat. Sikkim bowlers had a tough time as they went for a lot of runs. Skipper Lee Yong Lepcha conceded 55 runs in just two overs while Roshan Kumar finished with 2-81 in four overs.
Other records broken by Baroda
With this batting performance, Baroda also broke various other records. They hit a record 37 sixes in the innings, the most by a team in a T20 match. The previous record was again held by Zimbabwe against Gambia as they hit 27 sixes in their innings.

During this innings, Baroda scored 294 runs from boundaries, which is a record for a team in a T20 match. They hit 18 fours and 37 sixes during this innings.
This is also the first time in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that a team has scored more than 300 runs in an innings. It was an entertaining innings for the crowd and the Baroda batsmen showed their full range.
Baroda batsmen make it their team’s day
Earlier, Baroda got off to a great start but lost two quick wickets and slipped to 108-2. However, Bhanu Pania and Shivalik Sharma kept the momentum going and continued to thrash the inexperienced Sikkim bowling attack.
Keeper Vishnu Solanki hit a superb fifty to lead his team to a magnificent result. Solanki scored 50 off just 16 balls while Shivalik Sharma scored 55 off 17 balls.
