Barcelona vs Young Boys: Preview, predictions and lineups

Barcelona will be hoping to bounce back from their second defeat of the season when they host Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Having lost their first European game in Monaco after receiving an early red card, Hansi Flick’s side succumbed to their first defeat of the 2024/25 Liga at Girona. However, their lead at the top of Spain’s first division is still three points after Real Madrid’s draw with Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Swiss giants Young Boys have endured an awful start to their league campaign, failing to win seven of their opening eight games. They convincingly beat Aston Villa in their Champions League opener and points are already looking hard to come by.

here it is 90 minutes preview of Tuesday’s game.

Barca manager Flick did some surprising and ultimately fatal things changes to his starting XI on Saturday. Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, who appeared as substitutes in the Pamplona defeat, will return to the side.

There is a long list of Barça injuries which currently has Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araujo, Dani Olmo, Fermin López and Marc Bernal, but midfielders Frenkie de Jong and Gavi are about to return from the margin

Young Boys will be without Loris Benito, Patric Pfeiffer, Saidy Janko and Facinet Conte for the trip to Catalonia, but manager Patrick Rahmen may be planning radical changes after their latest defeat at the weekend.

The Bernese side, who won the Swiss title last season, were beaten 1-0 at home by Grasshopper on Saturday.

Expected lineup of Young Boys vs Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Von Ballmoos; Athekame, Camara, Zoukrou, Hadjam; Niasse, Lauper; Hungarian, Columbus; Ganvoula

Barcelona have hit their first rough patch under new manager Flick and it will be fascinating to see how they manage this turbulence on Tuesday.

On paper, the Blaugrana want a great chance to banish the memories of two recent defeats by crushing the Swiss champions, who have made a dreadful start to the campaign both domestically and in Europe.

Barça they have the offensive quality needed to run riot against Young Boys, who will lack confidence when they visit the Estadio Olimpic Lluís Companys. There could be a scare down the road, but the hosts should get a confident win to claim their first points in the Champions League this season

Prediction: Barcelona 3-1 Young Boys
