Barcelona put in a dominant performance, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over struggling Levante at Camp Nou. Marc Bernal, Frenkie de Jong and FermÃn López found the net, securing the three points for the Catalan giants.
The La Liga clash on 22 February 2026 pitted second-placed Barcelona against a Levante team that finished 19th. Barcelona entered the game with 58 points and good local form. Levante, with only 18 points, has faced an uphill battle from the start.
Barcelona wasted no time in establishing its authority. Just four minutes into the game, young midfielder Marc Bernal opened the scoring. He got a precise finish after a smart assist from Eric GarcÃa, which fired up the Camp Nou faithful.
Levante tried to respond, but were suffocated by Barcelona’s relentless pressure. Frustration grew for the visitors, with K. Tunde booked in the 20th minute for holding up an opponent.
The home side extended their lead just after the half-hour mark. João Cancelo, advancing from the defence, made a timely assist that Frenkie de Jong scored calmly in the 32nd minute. This second goal further consolidated Barcelona’s control.
Barcelona continued to dictate the game, dominating possession and creating more chances. Defender Gerard MartÃn received a yellow card in stoppage time in the first half, a rare disciplinary offense for the home side.
At the break, Barcelona held a 2-0 lead, and left Levante with a daunting task. The visitors made a tactical substitution at the restart, bringing on V. Garcia to try and inject some urgency into their attack.
In the second half, Barcelona maintained control, moving the ball with patience. Marc Bernal, after a spirited display, was booked in the 59th minute for a late tackle before being substituted soon after.
Coach Xavi made a triple substitution in the 66th minute, introducing Robert Lewandowski, Pedri and Dani Olmo. This new offensive impetus ensured that Barcelona maintained the pressure, preventing Llevant from finding a foothold.
Levante also made changes to freshen up their line-up around the 70-minute mark, but struggled to break down Barcelona’s solid defence. Goalkeeper Joan GarcÃa remained practically calm and made only two saves throughout the game.
Barcelona added a third goal in the 81st minute, putting the result beyond doubt. Substitute FermÃn López fired after an incisive pass from the dynamic Lamine Yamal, highlighting Barcelona’s depth and offensive prowess.
Statistically, Barcelona completely dominated the competition. They had 73% of possession, registered 22 shots in total with 9 on target and boasted an Expected Goals (xG) figure of 2.92. Levante only managed 5 shots, with 2 on target, and an xG of 0.53, thanks in large part to Mathew Ryan’s 6 saves.
This overall victory consolidates Barcelona in second place in the League, keeping the pressure on the league leaders. For Levante, the defeat keeps them in the relegation zone, facing a difficult fight for survival in the coming weeks.
