Barcelona will wear the logo of British pop band Coldplay on their shirts for the first Clásico of the 2024/25 La Liga season.
The shirt is the latest in a line of limited edition kits released as part of Spotify’s sponsorship of Barcelonawith Drake, The Rolling Stones and Rosalia among the artists to have had their logo emblazoned on the home shirt so far.
1,899 shirts will be available for purchase online, with an additional limit of 22 glow-in-the-dark versions. 11 of the latter will be signed by the men’s team, and 11 by the women’s team with all net profits from sales going to the UN Refugee Agency.
Next up is the legendary band Coldplay, who will be celebrating the release of their new album ‘Moon Magic’ which features artists such as Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and TINI.
In a press release about the partnership, Coldplay said: “We are honored that Spotify has chosen to feature our Moon Music design on the FC Barcelona shirt. We have had a special relationship with the city and the club for many years. .
“We’re also proud to support UNHCR in its life-saving work to protect refugees and displaced people around the world. Heartfelt thanks to Spotify and FC Barcelona for making this possible.”
In addition to the shirt, Coldplay will also curate a special edition of the Barcelonaa Matchday playlist for the game.
Barcelona will wear the shirt for its next edition Classic game with Real Madrid on October 26, with the game itself promising to be a potential early-season title decider The League. Barcelona are currently in first place in the league with eight wins in nine outings.
The League and Champions League Holders Real Madrid sit three points clear, having won six and drawn three games so far, but the pair have one more game to play before they lock horns. Barcelona face Sevilla, while Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid travel to Celta de Vigo.
