Barcelona expect Lamine Yamal to return for the team’s first training session of 2025, reports have confirmed.
Yamal suffered his second ankle injury of the season in mid-December and was forced to miss the 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid before La Liga’s winter break gives him a few more weeks to to recover
The teenage winger failed Barcelonathe last practice of 2024 on Tuesday, however SPORT declares he should be involved again on Wednesday when Hansi Flick’s group starts in 2025.
It is thought he could be fit enough to play against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey on January 4, but given Barcelona’s status as overwhelming favorites for this tie, Yamal is expected to have the night off to help- even more to his recovery.
Instead, the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club on January 8 in Saudi Arabia is seen as a likely return date for Yamal.
If Barcelona beat Athletic, they would book a place in the final against Real Madrid or Mallorca, which will be played four days later on January 12.
