Barcelona fan groups have accused the club of being sold out after not being able to attend the last matches at the LluÃs Companys Olympic Stadium.
Barça first he closed a section in his temporary fans for the Champions League clash with Brest, claiming that an agreement with the Espai d’Animacio – the singing section in the North stand – had not been taken into account Goal-.
The club is claiming unpaid fines totaling €21,000 for chanting and behavior inside the stadium which had not been paid by the EDA as agreed, although supporters have insisted the indiscretions are individual actions and the col group should not be punished as a consequence.
After that, the fan groups were banned again the 2-1 defeat against Las Palmas on the club’s 125th anniversary on Saturday, the EDA has accused Barça of “playing” with the team’s “dignity” and “history”.
A statement said: “After decades of supporting the club at its best and, above all, at its worst, home and away, we have been prevented from celebrating and enjoying our 125th anniversary.
“It’s not about fines we don’t want to pay, there’s a lot more going on in the background. Little by little, partners (partners) are losing the weight they’ve had historically.
“The club is removing the atmosphere, filling the stadium with tourists, Mexican waves at 0-0, ‘kiss cams’, an announcer’s joke, indecent prices, encouraging the absence of rivalries, changing colors for the purposes of marketing and making big decisions without any transparency or consultation.”
The stand was used for Saturday’s defeat, with seats sold back to other supporters.
The statement continues: “There are endless reasons that reveal the intentions of the board, prioritizing a business model where those closest and loyal to the club are harmed. They are selling the club financially and socially.
“The closure of our section, the voice of the stadium, is the next step in the social death of the club. Either we react or they will end up destroying the most important thing this club has.
“You don’t play with the dignity of the club. Nor with the history of the club. And especially not with the value of the badge and the feeling of the members and the fans.”
