Bangladesh Test squad announced for South Africa 2nd Test; the pacer fell off

In a recent development, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the second and final Test match of the ongoing series against South Africa. There has been a change in the Bangladesh squad, with pacer Khalid Ahmed replacing Taskin Ahmed in this upcoming match.

The second and final Test will be played from Tuesday, October 29 at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The hosts lost the first Test match at Mirpur by seven wickets. The hosts struggled against South African bowlers including Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj.

Taskin Ahmed Wants To Be Fresh Ahead Of Long Tour – Selector

According to a Cricbuzz report, a member of the selection panel said that Taskin Ahmed was rested to keep him fresh for the upcoming ODIs against Afghanistan. The selectors said that Taskin is an all-format player and decided to manage his workload ahead of the long tour.

“Taskin Ahmed is our all-format cricketer and will be flying away from home for 50 days as we have ODIs against Afghanistan followed by a full-fledged series against West Indies,” the selector said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“We want him to be fresh before the long tour and so we decided to rest him while Khalid is there so that if we need him, we can use him given that our two pacers Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmood are fit and ready to go.” he said.

Despite being part of the squad for the first Test match against South Africa, Tashkin Ahmed was not included in the playing XI. Khalid Ahmed was part of the tours of India and Pakistan but was not considered for the first match. The Bangladesh team will leave for Chattogram on Saturday, October 26.
