Babes Golf partners with True Spec to offer great membership benefits

Golf babes — golf’s community-minded membership program aimed at making the game more accessible, social and supportive — will debut a fantastic new benefit: an exclusive club-friendly partnership with True Spec Golfthe brand-agnostic premium club fitting company, founded in 2014. The partnership, which was announced Thursday, will allow Babes Golf members to receive significant discounts on equipment and purchases at nearly 40 True Spec locations nationwide.

“When I first got into golf, I didn’t know where to start getting clubs,” said Babes Golf founder Alex Andersen. “I just went and got a starter set, which is perfect if you’re just starting out. But a lot of times women come to us and they have their husbands give up, these really heavy clubs. Golf is already hard and it’s just making it harder.

“So what we find is about three or four years later, the girls are ready to move on from their starting group,” she continued. “They’ve really invested a lot more in their game, they’ve taken clinics, they’ve gone to lessons, and they’re realizing that their band isn’t for them. And that’s why I love True Spec, because there are places all over the place and a lot of times people don’t know they can get a fit, so I found it to be a very educational experience.”

In addition to serving as Babes Golf’s exclusive club equipment provider, True Spec will also partner with Babes Golf on promotional events in the markets where both operate, as well as on Babes Golf’s flagship events such as Babecation trips, where groups of women enjoy a girls’ golf getaway to a premium golf destination. Babecations planned this year include a trip to La Quinta in May, where a round at PGA West is on file, and an event at Big Cedar Lodge in October, which is already sold out.

Babes Golf launched in 2017 in San Diego to help women find other women to play with. There are currently three levels of Babes Golf memberships with annual fees of $100 (National), $200 (Premier) and $450 (Elite). Membership benefits include access to events and merchandise discounts, as well as a line into the Babes Golf Nationwide community. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned player, Babes Golf members can attend golf outings, clinics, meetings and social events, and connect with other Babes Golf members in the area to make new friends or complete a foursome through the community app.

The True Spec partnership will allow Premier and Elite Babes Golf membership holders to schedule one free annual equipment per year — a $375 value — while National members will receive a 50 percent discount. Each membership level will also be given discounts on purchases made at True Spec.

“We are dedicated to growing the game of golf, and as a company, our goal is to give every golfer we fit the best experience possible,” True Spec president Scott Anderson said in a release. “We’ve always encouraged women to embrace the game, and a big part of being able to do that is having a welcoming environment to fit right into the clubs. We’re pleased to be that place for all Babes Golf members.”

For Andersen, the partnership represents increased access and opportunities for the community.

“A big part of our mission is to make the game of golf as easy and enjoyable as possible for women, and being aligned with True Spec plays an integral role in helping us achieve that,” she said. “I just want to find all the golf girls out there and bring them all together.”
