Jasprit Bumrah dismisses Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith off consecutive balls

Moments later, Bumrah produced a magical performance to dismiss Australian star Smith off the next ball. Smith, known for his off-kilter style, went through the stumps in his usual confusion, but this time the ball bounced back sharply from Bumrah’s angled delivery. The ball hit Smith in front of the stumps, the bat well outside the stump line. The Indian pacer was immediately reassured and the on-field umpire gave him LBW. Facing just one delivery, Smith was dismissed for a duck. Replays confirmed that the ball would hit the middle and leg stumps, leaving no doubt as to the accuracy of the call. Bumrah has now taken a hat-trick and the Australian dressing room is stunned by his remarkable sequence of events.

Although Bumrah did not complete the hat-trick, his spell remained a masterpiece of fast bowling. In his 10-over spell, Bumrah conceded just 17 runs and scored 4 wickets with a brilliant save of just 1.70. His control and accuracy were the highlights of the day as he put Australia’s top order under relentless pressure.

Australia’s batting collapsed
After bowling India out for 150, Australia also got off to a poor start. Led by Bumrah, the Indian pacers put constant pressure on the home team’s batting. At the end of the first day’s play, Australia were in dire straits at 67 for 7losing wickets in quick succession. Bumrah and Muhammad Siraj the second was the bowlers who took 2 wickets for 17 runs in their 9 over spell.
