Emphasizing that he stands for equality and understanding in cricket, he made it clear that his South Asian heritage and commitment to diversity should reflect his true intentions without any malice behind the comment.
“If you listen to the full transcript, I meant only the highest praise for one of India’s greatest players. And one I greatly admire. “I’m a proponent of equality and someone who has spent a career thinking about getting into and understanding the game.” he added, clarifying his stance on diversity and respect in cricket.

Ravi Shastri praises Guha for showing courage
The former India coach praised Shastri Guha for her courage in apologizing on live television, describing her as a “brave woman” for addressing the issue head-on. He acknowledged that mistakes can happen, especially during live commentary, and stressed the importance of moving on, saying Guhan’s sincere apology should resolve the issue.
