The Oakland Athletics bid farewell to their home field, where they spent their last 57 seasons, after the 2024 season.
When the team eventually moved to Las Vegas, the Oakland Coliseum saw its final Athletics game played there during the final home game of the 2024 regular season.
The move to Las Vegas is expected to take several years as the stadium needs to be built, so the Athletics will play their games elsewhere in 2025.
The Athletics made a historic announcement on Monday regarding their team name for next season.
According to FOX Sports.
Athletics announced several changes today. Although they will now play at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, they will not have the city’s name attached to the team.

Even though the Athletics will be playing in Sacramento, they decided to just go with “The Athletics” rather than incorporate the city that would carry the team.
The Athletics have won nine World Series titles in franchise history, most recently back in 1989.
Recent history has seen the Athletics take a bit of a dip as they have missed the postseason in each of the past four seasons since winning the American League West in 2020.
The Athletics are apparently in rebuilding mode to move the team from Oakland to Las Vegas.
It will be interesting to see how the Athletics team adjusts to playing in a new ballpark in 2025 as they try to get their organization back to playing winning baseball.
The Athletics have not appeared in the American League championship since 2006.
