“At the moment…” – Liverpool star speaks out once again on contract saga

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has spoken out on his long-term contract situation, suggesting he has no plans for an update at the moment.

The Netherlands international remains a hugely important player for Liverpool, and fans will no doubt be desperate to see him commit his future to the club.

The Liverpool players had to be SEPARATED in a huge row after the Man United game!

Still, Van Dijk has been asked about his Liverpool contract, which expires at the end of the season, on a number of occasions this season, and his answer has been pretty much the same each time.

Watch below as Fabrizio Romano quotes Van Dijk as he reiterates that he has no major updates to talk about…

Van Dijk said: “Nothing (on the contract). But I’m calm, as I said months ago. We’ll see what happens in the future and at the moment I have absolutely no updates.”

LFC must surely keep hold of the 33-year-old, who remains one of the best defenders in the world, but this is another major saga that looks set to drag on.

Can Liverpool keep hold of their star players?

As well as Van Dijk, Liverpool also have Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold heading to become free agents in just a few months.

It would be an absolute disaster for the Reds to lose these three big names for nothing, and it’s quite baffling that the club have allowed the situation to get to this point.

Fabrizio Romano recently said Caught offside that Liverpool trusted Van Dijk and Salah, so fans will have to wait for a more concrete update on this soon.

Alexander-Arnold’s situation perhaps looks less optimistic from Liverpool’s point of view, with Real Madrid pushing to sign the England international as their main right-back target.
