Juventus staged an impressive final comeback, holding out a dramatic 3-3 draw against AS Roma at the Estadio Olimpico.
A breathless Serie A encounter saw Juventus fight back from a two-goal deficit. They managed a thrilling 3-3 draw against AS Roma. Federico Gatti emerged as the hero, striking deep into injury time.
Roma, in fourth position, sought to consolidate their Champions League hopes with good form at home. Sixth-placed Juventus looked for consistency, hoping to close the gap between the European places.
The first half offered midfield battles before the scoring started. Roma’s Wesley Franca received a yellow card in the 27th minute for a rash tackle.
Despite the card, Franca found her rhythm soon. In the 39th minute, Niccolò Pisilli made a precise pass. Franca then drilled home a powerful shot. Roma took a crucial 1-0 lead.
The half-time whistle allowed both sides to regroup. Juventus needed a quick response. Roma sought to consolidate their defensive advantage.
Juventus came out revitalized, scoring almost immediately. Francisco Conceição received a pass from Bremer and fired in the 47th minute. The quick equalizer tied the visitors at 1-1.
Rome, however, quickly reasserted dominance. Defender Evan Ndicka rose to meet Lorenzo Pellegrini’s corner. He headed home in the 54th minute. The Giallorossi were back in front, making it 2-1.
The home side extended their lead just ten minutes later. Donyell Malen received a smart assist from Manu Koné. He scored the ball with confidence in the 65th minute. Roma looked like they were going 3-1.
But Juventus refused to give up. Substitute Jérémie Boga, introduced earlier, made an instant impact. He burst forward and smashed home a powerful shot in the 78th minute. This reduced the deficit to 3-2.
The Old Woman pressed relentlessly. In stoppage time, in the 93rd minute, Federico Gatti took advantage of a loose ball. He put it past the keeper. This completed a remarkable comeback.
The statistics showed a close battle; both teams managed five shots on goal. Roma had a higher expected goals (xG) of 1.65 compared to Juventus’ 1.39. However, the visitors had 53% possession.
This spectacular draw keeps Roma fourth and Juventus sixth. Both teams leave the Olympic Stadium with a point. Juventus won a vital one, while Roma will rue two lost points.
