The overpass can destroy your game, especially when you face a seemingly intricate lie – like a bunker stroke.
While I do not want to add another voice to the peanut gallery that is already in your head, there is a key worth remembering when navigating sand lies: stop caught in the club.
It is simple but effective, and according to Parker McLachlin, a short game guru and Golf teacher to seeSomething as simple as adjusting your syllable position will strengthen your sand game almost immediately.
Instead of drowning in the club, McLachlin recommends placing your lowest hands in the club, towards the grip butt. While it can feel counterintensible, go against instinct to shorter shots around green, McLachlin explains that by making more lever creates in your oscillation, and, as a result, helps you generate more speed through influence.
“If you are grabbing the way down, down to the shaft, you are not creating as much lever as you can and you are not getting enough speed as you can,” McLachlin says.
This additional speed will not only help the club slide into the sand without effort but will also allow you to execute sandy shots that most amateurs fight to hit.
To be comfortable with this new syllable position, McLachlin suggests a simple drill: remove your pink lead pink from the syllable and make some shakes. The goal is to feel the weight of the club and the way it is intended to move around the rhythm.
This exercise, McLachlin says, will help you feel the weight of the club as you swing and help you understand how the club should be shaken.
