New York –Arthur son is outside the main draw of US Open.
The 21-year-old Frenchman suffered a stress fracture in the back in Roland Garros that overturned him from the court season. Fils announced on Instagram a “warning sign” he felt during his return match in Canada Open prompted his open withdrawal to the US.
“After an injury that had kept me away from the courts, a warning sign was felt on my return – first in Toronto and then to Cincinnati – led me to make a difficult but reasonable decision to withdraw from the US Story on Instagram. “This decision was made to allow a full recovery. I am working hard every day with my team turn strong and be ready for the end of the season.”
Fils made a brief return to Toronto, where he defeated Pablo Carreno Busta in his opening before bowing to Jiri Lehecka in the second round. Fils and the champion of Toronto’s bachelors Ben Shelton arrived in the quarter -finals of the doubles before accepting a walk.
World no. 20 FILS withdrew from the main draw of the meadows the day after the compatriot semi -finalist and cincinnati Atmane Withdrew from the US open qualifying draw.
