Arslanbek Makhmudov says he is grateful that British heavyweight Dave Allen chose him as his opponent on October 11 for their 12-round headliner on Dazn. Allen (24-7-2, 19 cost) chose the imposing 6’6 ″ Makhmudov (20-2, 19 COs) from a list of five fighters for his opponent.
Road to Wilder or Joshua
Promoter Eddie Hearn says that if Allen Arslanbek defeated, his next battle against Deontay Wilder of Anthony Joshua could be. So there is a lot at stake for Allen (33) in this battle. It would be a massive payday in the late career for Allen to get a fight against Joshua. Who would ever think that a ham-and-egg like Allen could be about to get a chance to fight AJ?
It is still a lot to ask ‘the white rhino’ to pull off a dismay from Makhmudov. It’s one thing to beat a fighter at the household level like Johnny Fisher, but it’s another story that does it against Makhmudov. The most likely outcome of this fight is that on October 11, Allen is in two or three rounds by the Big Russian roaring.
