Arshdeep Singh aims to overtake Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar to become India’s most successful T20I pacer

As Team India prepares for the second T20I of the three-match series, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is eyeing a huge record in the T20I format. Arshdeep Singh has the opportunity to overtake Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya in the elite list of Indian bowlers in the T20I format.

Arshdeep has become an important member of Team India since his debut in the short international format. During the first T20I against Bangladesh at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on October 6, the young bowler took three wickets for just 14 runs in 3.5 overs.

The 25-year-old took the wicket of Litton Das in the fifth ball of the first over before dismissing Parvez Hossain Emo in the next over. He was named “Player of the Match” for his bowling performance. If he manages to score a few more runs in the second T20I, he could reach the big milestones.

On the verge of overtaking Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Arshdeep Singh has the opportunity to become the second highest wicket-taker in T20Is for India in the second match of the ongoing series. Yuzvendra Chahal is the leading wicket-taker for India in the format with 96 wickets in 80 matches at an average of 25.09 and an economy rate of 8.19.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the most successful pacer in T20Is for India, scoring 89 wickets in 70 games. Jasprit Bumrah, who won the Player of the Series award in the 2024 T20 World Cup, scored 89 runs in 70 T20Is for the Men in Blue at an average of 17.74 and an economy rate of 6.27.

Arshdeep Singh, who made his T20I debut against England in July 2022, has taken 86 wickets in 55 matches at an average of 18.26. If Singh takes four wickets in the upcoming second T20I, he will overtake Jasprit Bumrah. He would go on to surpass Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s five-wicket haul.

No Indian Bowler Has Taken More T20I Wickets Than Him – Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra praised Arshdeep for his impressive bowling performance in the first T20I. He said that Arshdeep has been India’s leading T20I bowler for the past two years.

“Arshdeep Singh’s style of batting needs to be talked about. He came in with the new ball and took a wicket in the first ball and then another wicket in the second. He came in at the end and bowled the yorkers. In fact, in the last two years, no Indian bowler has bowled more than him. He didn’t take a T20I wicket,” said Chopra.
