Riccardo Calafieri de l’Arsenal has revealed an unexpected football idol, and it is not the one who would have guessed.
In a recent exclusive interview with VersusItaly International spoke candidate for everything, from his role as ambassador to the Adidas lingerie line, whom he thinks has the best hair in Arsenal (Noni Madueke, for registration).
But it was his football idol that caught his attention.
While most would be to look at legendary Italian defenders such as Paolo Maldini or Alessandro Nesta, Calafieri revealed that his inspiration came from a more amazing source: Aleksandar Kolarov, the former Manchester City and as Rome Full-Back.
“When I was younger in Rome, I was fortunate enough to train -with the first team,” said Calafieri. “I learned directly from Aleksandar Kolarov, who played my position. It was someone who could see every day, his technique, his mentality, and he gave me small advice and details that I still have with me today.”
Although Kolarov was its main influence, Calafieri mentioned the classic icons of Italian defense. “Of course, defenders like Maldini, Nesta, Chiellini … These players are icons for me,” he added.
Any other place in the interview, the 23 -year -old talked about life in Arsenal from his summer movement of 42 million pounds in Bologna last summer.
“It’s special,” he said. “Everyone is a good boy, we are friends and I feel very comfortable here. Last season it was not easy, but I returned this summer with a fire inside me. I couldn’t wait to start over. Playing the Premier League is the dream for so many players, so now I just want to enjoy -and show what I can do in a coherent way.”
Kolarov was a pillar of coherence in Manchester City, helping the club to win two Premier League titles. Now Calafieri will undoubtedly expect to replicate the success of his idol in the arsenal.
