Arsenal fans will be disappointed after seeing their side drop points at Brighton yesterday, and there’s more bad news for them this morning.
According to journalist Eduardo Burgos in X, Arsenal are keen on a transfer deal for Wolves striker Matheus Cunhabut he is now close to signing a new contract at Molineux.
The talented Brazilian striker has been in excellent form in the Premier League this season, contributing ten goals and four assists in 19 appearances so far, and it’s no surprise that Arsenal see him as a potential addition to strengthen the your first line.
Arsenal are chasing an 18-goal star who could save their season!
Still, watch below as the AS Burgos reporter suggests Wolves are absolutely not ready to sell Cunha and are even closing in on a new deal for the 25-year-old…

Only the issue of the termination clause is missing. They negotiate to include a release clause if the team goes down.

Cunha will clearly be very important to Wolves as they try to avoid relegation from the Premier League, so it might never be easy for Arsenal or anyone to sign him mid-season.
Matheus Cunha transfer: Arsenal target could have low release clause
One positive to keep an eye on, however, is that Burgos says Wolves would include a low release clause for Cunha if they end up going down.
This could mean Arsenal have a great opportunity to sign Cunha on the cheap in the summerthough of course most fans would probably prefer to have him now so he can have an impact on this year’s title race.
Mikel Arteta’s side look set to face a huge fight to catch Liverpool back now, and the Reds have the chance to go eleven points clear if they win both of their games in hand.
Perhaps Arsenal should focus on finishing as high as possible and doing well in the Champions League and domestic cup competitions, but the injured Bukayo Saka would surely still need to be protected.
