Arsenal on top of English top flight goalscoring record after West Ham win

Arsenal have tied an English top-flight record for most away games with at least five goals scored in a single calendar year in all competitions.

The Gunners beat West Ham United to five in a 5-2 win at the London Stadium, the fifth time Arsenal have scored five away goals in 2024.

The current record for an English top-flight team stands at five games. Sunderland managed the feat in 1892 and Manchester City equaled their record in 1937, and arsenal they have now tied for the honor in 2024.

Mikel Arteta’s side are still in time to claim the record on their own, with two more away games still on their Premier League schedule before the end of the calendar year.

Arsenal first make the trip to Fulham on December 8th and then, after hosting Everton, return to the road for the short trip across London to Crystal Palace on December 21st.

The 5-2 win over West Ham was the second time Arsenal had scored five this season. The Gunners put five on Sporting CP just four days before equaling the feat against the Hammers.

Last season, Arsenal also recorded back-to-back away games with at least five goals. February saw a 6-0 win over West Ham and a 5-0 win against Burnley in quick succession. After a game of just four goals, Arsenal beat a woeful Sheffield United 6-0 at Bramall Lane.
