Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is attracting interest from Barcelona

according to filesBarcelona and Atlético de Madrid are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.

The midfielder will become a free agent at the end of the season and there is no sign of the Gunners offering him a new contract at this stage.

The defensive midfielder’s stay at the club has been plagued by injuries and since joining the club, he has missed a considerable amount of time due to his fitness issues.

The Ghanaian midfielder joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid to provide them with the physical presence and strength they lacked in the middle of the park.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta now has several options for his midfield position, with Declan Rice, Jorginho and Mikel Merino joining the club after Partey.

The appearance of Rice and the arrival of Merino has made it clear that the coach prefers these two midfielders to Partey.

Along with them, Martin Odegaard will form the midfield trio that Arteta will deploy at the club.

Barcelona need a new defensive midfielder and haven’t been able to find one since Sergio Busquets left the club.

Manager Hansi Flick’s current options at the club are inexperienced and so they are looking for someone like Partey who can provide quality and experience.

Atletico Madrid need balance in midfield and their recent poor results have shown that reinforcements are needed in the squad.

Thomas Partey will have limited playing time at Arsenal

Partey has previous experience playing in La Liga with his spell at Atlético de Madrid.

He could be a valuable addition to La Liga teams and a return to Spain could be the spark his career needs at this stage.

Due to injury problems at Arsenal this season, Partey has been a regular starter at the club, but with a fully fit squad, he will be relegated to the bench.
