Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira is in line for a return to management with Serie A side Genoa.
The Frenchman managed just one season in charge of Chelsea’s sister outfit Strasbourg before being relieved of his duties during pre-season.
Now in search of the fifth senior management job of his career, Vieira is expected to sign with Serie A side Genoa, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that a deal is in place for the 48-year-old to take over.
Genoa parted ways with Alberto Gilardino on Tuesday and are expected to announce Vieira as his replacement imminently.
A move to Genoa, who are 17th in Serie A, will see Vieira link up with ex-Manchester City team-mate Mario Balotelli, who joined Genoa in the summer and is still awaiting his first goal
Vieira’s introduction to life in management came through City, working in the academy before taking charge of New York City FC, but he has previously left the door open to a return to the arsenal dugout
“Let’s just say I might be interested someday,” he said the team in 2018. “Someday. I can’t say more than that because there’s nothing else to say.”
