Viktor Gyokeres will be one of the most talked about players in Europe when the January signing period opens.
The Swedish striker is doing amazing things at Sporting right now, just like he did last season after moving to Portugal from Coventry City.
Nobody snapped him up in the summer despite his goalscoring exploits with Sporting, but it would be very surprising if he doesn’t move on in the next few windows.
Personally, I’d be surprised if anything happens in January. Sporting will do everything possible not to lose him mid-season. But come summer, I imagine it will come out.
You would think so The departure of Ruben Amorim from Sporting to Manchester United it will only increase the speculation. Will he follow his former boss to Old Trafford? United have spent heavily on a couple of young strikers in recent seasons, so it may not be possible.

I’m still not convinced they’ll sign a striker in January, even with the poor run of form we’re seeing from Mikel Arteta. It still seems more likely that they will wait until the summer when they will have more options available.
Gyokeres will once again be one of those options. But Alexander Isak would still be my first choice, I have to admit.
