arsenal will be without midfielder Declan Rice when they travel to face Inter in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The midfielder joins the growing list of Arsenal players sidelined through injury after picking up a knock during the Gunners’ 1-0 defeat by Newcastle United on Saturday. He has since been ruled out of their upcoming European clash with the Serie A giants, despite featuring in all of Arsenal’s previous games in the competition.
while rice will not be part of the squad on Wednesday, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could be involved after returning to training. The Norwegian has missed the last two months of games for Mikel Arteta’s side with an ankle injury.
“The positive news is that it’s great to have Martin back,” the Gunners boss told reporters during Tuesday’s press conference. “Obviously he trained with us for the first time, a full session today.
“It felt good, it’s a bit earlier than we expected, but he wanted to be with the team, so tomorrow we’ll decide if we use him, but at least it’s a big step that he’s made with us and that he’s part of the team.
“Unfortunately, Declan got injured against Newcastle. He was able to finish the game but he hasn’t been feeling well in the last few days, so we have to assess him on Thursday to understand whether or not he will be fit for the weekend. . ”
“It was a knock, so it’s a problem with the foot. He wasn’t comfortable with it, so he’s not fit at the moment.”
Arsenal will face Inter at the San Siro on Wednesday evening before returning to Premier League action at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on sunday
