This injury is expected to keep him out until the end of the calendar year, reducing Arteta’s options at the back.
Another defender, Christian Mosquerahe is also unavailable, with an ankle problem ruling him out until mid-January 2026.
Upcoming matches and partial returns
There was some relief at the weekend as William Saliba and Jurrien Timber returned to central defense after overcoming recent fitness concerns.
However, Arsenal now face a demanding run of fixtures, starting with a league trip to Everton on Saturday.
A Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace will follow on December 23.
