Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has been linked with a move away from the Spanish club in recent months.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has had a mixed spell since his move to La Liga. While there is no doubt that he has shown his world-class potential at times, he will need to add more consistency to his game.
There has been speculation about his long-term future at the club, but Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed it at his own Here we go podcast that a move away from Real Madrid is not planned in the near future. Romano also revealed that the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with the player, but a move to the Premier League is certainly not on the horizon.
He said: “We saw these rumors in England and we keep getting a lot of questions about Tchouameni because the summer transfer window has just closed. A lot of people made rumors about Liverpool, Arsenal, Tchouameni in 2025.
“I wanted to clarify something for 2024, 2025, 2026, whenever. Aurelien Tchouameni’s intention is to stay at Real Madrid. Real Madrid’s intention is to keep Aurelien Tchouameni as a crucial player for this project. For the present and future. They are in love with Tchouameni; with the player, with the professional.
“How he acted in the central position was something that was greatly appreciated by the Real Madrid technical team. Therefore, it is not even considered that Real Madrid will sell Aurelien Tchouameni. The situation is perfect between the club and the player.
“I can guarantee at the moment, despite all the rumours, we know how many clubs can appreciate a top-level player like Tchouameni … but in terms of the concrete possibilities of him leaving Madrid, at the moment, zero.”
Liverpool and Arsenal need Aurelien Tchouameni
Liverpool could certainly use a top defensive midfielder and they tried to sign the France international before his move to Real Madrid. There is no doubt that the 24-year-old would have been an outstanding signing for them and could have completed their midfield unit for the foreseeable future.
At Arsenal, he could have been the ideal partner for Declan Rice. Apart from his ability to protect the back four and win the ball back for his team, he is an exceptional passer from deep and would have added a new dimension to Arsenal’s midfield.
Tchouameni has all the attributes to become a world-class midfielder, and it remains to be seen whether he can iron out the inconsistencies in his game and fulfill his enormous potential at Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants will be hoping to push for major trophies each season and won’t want to lose an elite talent like him anytime soon. The midfielder has helped them win major trophies during his time at the club, including the League title last season.
