Arnold Barboza Jr. did it after his win over Kenneth Sims Jr. made it clear that he is looking for the biggest fights available at welterweight. After the win Saturday night, Barboza pointed to several high-profile names as the opponents he wants next, including Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez.

Barboza said a fight with Ryan Garcia makes particular sense given their shared promotional ties. The match was already booked earlier this year before plans changed.
“I think this is the perfect fight for him,” Barboza said of Ryan. “That fight was supposed to happen in February. We were negotiating that fight.”
Ryan’s immediate future remains uncertain as the welterweight division sorts itself out. Haney is expected to be tied up in another big fight, leaving Barboza hopeful that Garcia could be available if he’s looking for a summer fight.
Barboza also reiterated his desire for a rematch with Teofimo, the only fighter to defeat him as a professional. The loss continues to be a motivating factor for the Californian fighter as he looks for his first world title opportunity.
“Obviously I’d love to get my lick back,” Barboza said. “That’s my only loss.”
In addition to those two names, Barboza mentioned Haney among the champions he will welcome as he continues his push into the 147-pound division. He also shot down the recent social media sparring tour involving Keyshawn Davis, saying he would gladly fight Davis if the lightweight contender decided to move up in weight.
Earlier in the evening, another possible opponent briefly entered the discussion when Alexis Rocha stepped into the ring following his own victory on the same card against Joseph Diaz Jr.. Barboza indicated he would take that fight if necessary, though his post-fight comments made it clear his preference is for the bigger matchups now available in the division.
For Barboza, the win over Sims was another step forward in a career built on tough fights. With his performance strengthening his position in the division, he now hopes the next opportunity comes against one of the sport’s biggest names.
