It hasn’t been an epic season for Darwin Núñez at Liverpool, with boss Arne Slot admitting collective mistakes in failing to get the forward to play at his best in 2024/25.
according to transfer marketthe Uruguayan has just four goals and four assists in his 26 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.
Those numbers are a bit deceiving given that he’s only played 90 minutes on six occasions, but they’re still not at the level expected of an elite striker.

Slot, for all the wonderful things he has done since taking over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer, has taken some sort of responsibility for Núñez’s lack of starts.
The departure of the Liverpool star in a “very advanced” phase!
“Darwin Núñez will score goals, I’m sure. He always did in his career,” said journalist Fabrizio Romano, who published a X.
“Darwin is a striker we have to use in a certain way and we haven’t been able to get the best out of him yet this season.”
Darwin Nunez needs to find his shooting boots
The delivery of the Dutchman’s words suggests a collective responsibility, with the manager ultimately responsible for ensuring all his players are at the top of their game week in, week out.
From Núñez’s point of view, he needs to find some scoring form quickly.
While he remains firmly part of the international set-up at the moment, if his club form is hampering his international place, there is every chance the player will try to force the issue to demand a move.
