Antonio Rudiger has labeled Lamine Yamal “scary” thanks to his world-class performances in Barcelona at such a young age.
Yamal burst onto the scene at just 15 years, nine months and 16 days, becoming the youngest Barça player to debut in the League in 2023 in a match against Real Betis.
Since then, the young winger has grown, becoming a star player for both his club and the senior national team.
Yamal was a key player for Spain at Euro 2024 over the summer, becoming the youngest player ever to score in the competition – short of an impressive goal in the semi-finals – and earning a place to the team of the tournament thanks to his contributions to the famous triumph of his national team.
The youngster has also recaptured that form at club level with him at the start of the 2024/25 season, contributing a rather remarkable nine goals, four goals and five assists, in just eight appearances. The League games so far.
One player Yamal has faced on several occasions in his short career so far is Real Madrid and Germany centre-back Antonio Rudiger. Speaking on podcast The Inside ScoopRudiger admitted he was very impressed by Yamal’s progression, saying:
“You have to give credit where credit is due,” Rudiger admitted. “He’s 17, it’s ridiculous. The player who is already for them at 17, it’s quite scary.
“What he did at the Euros, you have to congratulate him. He has a great future ahead of him.
“I think they’ve got a player who’s having a (great) career and hopefully he’ll stay healthy.”
Rudiger and Yamal will go head-to-head in the Clásico on October 26 in La Liga, with Yamal’s Barça currently leading the La Liga group thanks to seven wins from eight games.
