The New York Yankees put themselves at least one more day away from the exits on Tuesday when they finally got their bats going to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-4 in Game 4 of the World Series and force a Game 5 on Wednesday against Gerrit Cole. together with .

The big hit came in the third inning with two outs and the Yanks trailing 2-1 when Anthony Volpe hit a grand slam to put his team ahead for good and the hit became World Series history.

MLB Stats shared that Volpe is the first player in World Series history to record four RBI and two stolen bases in a World Series game.

Volpe was quietly having a good postseason until Game 4, but didn’t deliver the iconic moment he did with the grand slam.

Yankees fans were begging for someone to come up with a huge moment, and Volpe’s at-bat was a huge turning point in the series and will now go down in history.

The grand slam got the bats moving and the Yankees rallied for six more runs after Volpe’s huge at-bat to finally snap out of the slump they’d been in all series.

New York will look to carry the momentum into Game 5, when they’ll see Jack Flaherty back on the mound for the Dodgers after he walked right through the Yankees’ lineup in Game 1.

The Yankees have a long way to go to overcome this 3-0 deficit, but Volpe helped get them on the board and they just have to take it day by day.
