Joshua is a former two-time unified heavyweight champion, and his second reign came to an end when he lost to Usyk in September 2021. After losing his rematch against Usyk the following year, AJ was at a low point in his professional career, having lost 3 of his last 5 at that time. Joshua has since bounced back from the Usyk defeats with four wins in a row, against Jermaine Franklin, the late replacement Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin, and most recently putting on a display of power against Francis Ngannou.
Meanwhile, Dubois himself has only had one fight for a major world championship, and it happened in August of last year when he was stopped by the same Oleksandr Usyk. Since that loss, Dubois has beaten Jarrell Miller on the Boxing Day of Reckoning last December, and most recently stopped Filip Hrgovic in June to win the IBF interim championship. Soon after, Usyk vacated the IBF belt and Dubois was promoted from interim champion to the real IBF belt. Thus, Dubois will make his first official title defense against AJ, despite the fact that Dubois has never won a fight involving a major world championship.
So who will win the upcoming IBF heavyweight championship bout between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua?
This issue of Rummy’s Corner will try to answer that question and also give a quick preview for the Joshua vs Dubois showdown. Please watch and enjoy the video for one man’s opinion. This is Rummy’s Corner (produced and narrated by Geoffrey Ciani).
