A video of Anthony Joshua running through the streets of Lagos, Nigeria and rejoicing by people on the street who recognized him, was posted on social media today.
Lagos run
The ultra-healthy former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua (28-4, 25 COs) seemed to protect himself without safety and seemingly not afraid to be jumped. For someone who runs the famous streets, it’s risky.
Joshua, 35, arrives on September 21 last year of a brutal fifth round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. Promoter Eddie Hearn was all over the place and talked about various possible opponents for AJ’s next battle.
The price is Tyson Fury who is Hearn eager for him to fight in ‘The Battle of Britain ‘But “The Gypsy King” has not yet said a word about retirement to accommodate Joshua. It sits in Hearn’s crawl that Fury will not move from his gilded era mansion to fight Joshua in a collision that would make for both Gazillions.
Options called for AJ
– Deontay Wilder
– Joseph Parker
– Daniel Dubois
– Agit Kabayel
– Martin Bakole
Joshua wants to avenge his loss of Dubois. If the fight occurs next, it will attract a lot of interest in fans. For AJ, he can do it just as well, because it will not be easier for him if he waits two or three years before he comes again with Dubois. He will be too old by then to have any chance of winning the re -broadcast.
The other options on Hearn’s shortlist of opponents for AJ are not that attractive. Deontay, 39, is setting up a unknown fighter, Tyrell Herndon, on June 27, and he may lose.
Even if he wins, the popularity he once had will not have returned to make a battle between him and Joshua. Wilder has to beat a top 10-level fighter to make a fight between him and Joshua worthwhile.
