South African star Annerie Derksen has been named the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2024. Annerie Derksen won. Annerie Derksen made her debut for South Africa during the T20I triangular in January 2023. series It covers India and the West Indies. In a video interview with the ICC, Annerie Derksen expressed her gratitude for winning the award, adding that it was a reflection of the hard work of her coaches and the support of her teammates. He highlighted several highlights of the year, including his ODI and Test debuts in India.
“It’s obviously a great honor. I think it’s more a reflection of the hard work of my coaches and the support of my teammates than myself. But yeah, like I said, I’m very, very grateful, I’m very humbled and I’m very motivated to keep working.” said Derksen.
“I think this year has probably been full of a lot of special moments. I think my ODI and Test debut in India was pretty special.”

Despite not winning the World Cup final, Derksen said he appreciated the journey and said the final was a significant milestone in his career. He also mentioned a memorable innings of 44 against Pakistan in Multan.
“But I have to say that even though we didn’t win the final, the World Cup journey and probably the final have always held special places in my heart. And it probably highlighted my career.” he added.
“I have to say that the 44 innings I played against Pakistan in Multan was probably very special. It was a serious decider. Yeah, I think that win kind of gave us a good boost going into the World Cup.”
Annerie Dercksen Has Had a Great Year Between Formats
Derksen had a standout year between formats. The right-handed batsman amassed 161 runs and 5 wickets in 17 T20Is, 60 runs in 2 Tests and 70 runs with 6 wickets in 4 ODIs. She played a key role in South Africa’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign, where they reached the final but lost to New Zealand.
Derksen’s unbeaten 44 off just 23 balls sealed a thrilling win for South Africa in the T20I decider in Pakistan. He scored a career-best 15/2 against Sri Lanka. His ODI bowling also shone with a career-best 3/16 England. In Test cricket, he was a valuable contributor, including a crucial 41 in Bloemfontein.
