Angel Cabrera captured his first PGA Tour Champions Win victory on Sunday.

Big champion Angel Cabrera is ready to make his first appearance in Augusta National Since serving a long prison sentence. But days before 2025 masters Starts, Cabrera first arrived another: winning a PGA Tour Champions event.
Cabrera prison experience
From 2021 to 2023, Cabrera suffered 30 months in prison between different objects in Brazil and Argentina. He finally stopped in court and found himself guilty of two charges of attacking his ex-girlfriend, Cecilia Torres Mana. Then in 2022, he was found guilty of the attack of his ex-girlfriend, Micaela Escudero.
Cabrera was released from prison in August 2023, and in 2024 He returned to competitive Golf at PGA Tour Champions. Last season, the 55-year-old played 12 events in olderproviding two Top-10 conclusions.

After his successful season of 2024, Cabrera is playing the PGA Tour champions tour this year again. In his first start at the Hassan II trophy in February, he ended T19. Then it came last week.
After announcing that he would return to the masters this year, Cabrera tied him to the football hall James Hardie Pro Football. Initially, he was an alternative to the event, but a late attraction gained a place.

Cabrera masters return
With his suffering sentence, Cabrera, who won the 2009 masters and US Open 2007, US Open, was invited to play 2024 masters as a past champion.
But an issue with his visa prevented Cabrera from returning to Augusta National. With the solution of his visa problems, Cabrera again received an invitation to play by Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley, and this time he was able to accept.
At the last of his Daily mail Interview, Cabrera spoke about the importance of his second chance in a pro -golf career after his time in prison.
“One of the worst things that can happen to a human being, not being able to have freedom. Lack of freedom is really difficult, really difficult,” Cabrera said. “On the other hand, you know, I can tell you that the most important thing I feel now is the second chance, the opportunity to get back to the right track.”
His sudden victory Sunday shows that, at least when it comes to his game, he is back in that song. And he will have another opportunity this week in Augusta National.
After his victory on Sunday, Cabrera said he was not ready to turn his attention to the masters. Instead, he hoped to enjoy his impossible victory for a while.
“For now, I want to enjoy this,” he said. “The masters I will walk with a hole in the hole, but I want to enjoy it now.”
