Tottenham face Man City in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, and Ange Postecoglou has been urged to leave an under-performing ace ahead of the tie.
The Lilywhites will almost certainly be up against it despite the game being played at home in North London, but the Australian has the perfect motivation factor to bring out his side’s best game.
Losing against Crystal Palace at the weekend was not in their bingo card, and it gave Oliver Glasner’s Eagles their first Premier League win of the season.
Ange Postecoglou said to drop the Tottenham ace
James Maddison certainly didn’t look happy having been substituted in that game.
It was a disastrous performance from Tottenham, and Postecoglou will no doubt be looking for an immediate response from his players.
One has been so bad that it is believed The Spurs won’t jump at the chance to sign him permanently when your loan agreement ends in June.
However, Timo Werner is not the only one who has not hit the heights this season.
Bryan King, speaking with Tottenham Newsbelieves that Yves Bissouma must be abandoned.
“I can see where Postecoglou’s problems are at the moment, forward and in midfield“, he said.
“I am baffled by this performance against Palace, the players are not good enough. I would make a change in midfield if it was Postecoglou, I think he should be brought to Bentancur and leave Bissouma. It was a disappointment against Palace.
“Next to Bentancur, I would start with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
“Going forward I’d have Brennan Johnson and if Son Heung-min comes back he’ll take Mikey Moore’s place. As for Richarlison and Dominic Solanke, I’d still start Solanke. I don’t think Richarlison has done enough to earn the start “.
It would still be a big call from Postecoglou, but if he gets his selection absolutely right, Pep Guardiola’s side will know they’ve at least been in a game.
