Andres Cortes Headlines Zuffa Show After Top Rank Split

Undefeated lightweight contender Andres Cortes will headline the next card of Zuffa Boxing, marking a new chapter in his career following his departure from the Top Rankings.

Zuffa confirmed that Cortes will face Dominican fighter Eridson Garcia in a scheduled 10-round bout on April 5 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, with the event set to stream live on Paramount+.

The match represents Cortes’ first appearance as a main event attraction since parting ways with Top Rank in 2025. The 28-year-old contender built much of his record under the company’s banner while competing in the junior lightweight division, where wins over Xavier Martinez and Abraham Nova helped propel him into the upper echelon of contenders.

Since leaving Top Rank, Cortes has remained active while searching for a new promotional home. His signing with Zuffa Boxing puts him on one of the company’s upcoming cards and gives him another opportunity to stay visible in a competitive lightweight class.

Garcia enters the fight on a six-fight winning streak after suffering the only loss of his career in 2023, when he was stopped in the first round by Jordan White in the former ShoBox series. The Dominican fighter rebounded with several wins, including a wide decision over William Foster III and a split decision victory over Taiga Imanaga in Riyadh last December.

Both fighters previously campaigned at 130 pounds, but the contest will take place at lightweight as Zuffa’s bouts have typically avoided junior or super division tags.

The April 5 card will also feature former WBC featherweight champion Mark Magsayo against Feargal McCrory in a 10-round lightweight bout. In the opening bout of the three-fight broadcast, veteran puncher Azat Hovhannisyan will meet Eduardo Baez in a scheduled 10-round featherweight bout.

The show continues Zuffa Boxing’s early run of events at the UFC Apex since the promotion launched its boxing lineup earlier this year. The April card is scheduled for Easter Sunday and will be the latest installment of the company’s growing schedule of shows performed at the Las Vegas venue.
