The Baltimore Orioles had another disappointing showing in the postseason this season after finishing with a 91-71 record and finishing in second place in the American League East.
After winning the division in 2023 and being swept in their first series, the Orioles were swept again in their first series in 2024 after losing to the Kansas City Royals in the wild-card series.
The Orioles haven’t made any spectacular moves this offseason, as their notable acquisitions include Tyler O’Neal and Gary Sanchez.
After losing Corbin Burns in free agency, the Orioles need another ace starting pitcher, and MLB analyst Mike Ferrin believes he has the answer.
“Luis Castillo would make a lot of sense for the Orioles,” Ferrin said via Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio.

Castillo entered the league in 2017 with the Cincinnati Reds, where he played until being traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2022.
Castillo started 30 games for the Mariners in 2024, going 11-12 with a 3.64 ERA and 175 strikeouts in 175.1 innings.
Ferrin believes Castillo could be the Orioles’ trade candidate to pursue Burns after losing free agency to the Diamondbacks.
The Orioles still have plenty of talent in their farm system that they could use as trade bait if they wanted to pursue a pitcher like Castillo.
Although the Orioles have had impressive regular seasons the past two years, their playoff performances in 2025 have left much to be desired.
Ferrin believes the Orioles have plenty of room to improve before the start of next season and will be a team to watch moving forward.
