Analyst says 2 teams in good position to sign Teoscar Hernandez

Juan Soto’s streak ended with a bang as the top free agent signed a whopping 15-year contract worth $765 million with the New York Mets.

Now that Soto’s decision has been made, it opens the door for other teams to begin trying to sign free agents.

One of those free agents is Teoscar Hernandez of the World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

MLB analyst John Morosi named two teams he believes are in good position to sign Hernandez.

“Whether it happens today or later in the week, the Dodgers or the Boston Red Sox are in a good position to sign Hernandez,” Morosi said, via “X” on MLB Network.

Hernandez entered the league in 2016 with the Houston Astros and has played for four different MLB teams so far in his nine-year career.

With the Dodgers in 2024, Hernandez played 154 games and batted .272 with 33 home runs, 99 RBI and an .840 OPS.

The 32-year-old from the Dominican Republic had a career high in home runs in 2024 and also won the Home Run Derby.

Morosi notes that the Red Sox are a good fit for Hernandez because of his excellent play at Fenway Park during his career.

Fenway is known for the Green Monster in left field, and the team is likely targeting the right-handed power hitter to include in its lineup in 2025.

Now that Soto’s deal is done, it’s likely that many of the other free agents are starting to sign with teams that have been waiting for Soto to end the lottery.
