Analyst Reveals What He’s Heard About Pete Alonso, The Great

The New York Mets made the 2024 MLB postseason after finishing with an 89-73 record.

Squeezed into the playoffs as a wild card, the Mets swept the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies before falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.

Since then, the Mets have made some notable improvements to their roster, highlighted by the addition of superstar shortstop Juan Soto from the New York Yankees.

One question mark remains, free agent Pete Alonso, who has yet to sign through the 2025 season, and MLB analyst Robert Murray revealed what he’s hearing about the first baseman and the Mets.

“I think we have a pretty significant gap right now,” Murray said, via Foul Territory .

Murray points to the money difference, saying Alonso wants more than the Mets are currently willing to offer.

Another point Murray touches on is that if the Mets don’t bring Alonso back quickly, another team like the Seattle Mariners could swoop in and steal him.

Alonso played all six seasons of his MLB career with New York.

The right-handed power hitter has become a fan favorite and will likely upset many if he doesn’t return.

It will be interesting to see if Alonso ends up taking less money than he wants to stay with the team or if he receives a better offer elsewhere.
