The Philadelphia Phillies’ 2024 season came to a disappointing end as they lost their first series in the playoffs to the New York Mets.
After coming close to a World Series title in 2022 and 2023, the team’s loss in the National League division seemed disappointing.
The Phillies will look to make some strides this offseason to push past their prime and win their third World Series title in franchise history.
MLB analyst Jeff Joyce believes that adding one starting pitcher this offseason could boost this Phillies lineup.
“Garrett Crochet can put the Phillies over the top,” Joyce said.

Joyce mentions several contending teams that would benefit from adding Crochet, but the Phillies already have a roster where adding Crochet could give them a final boost in their postseason run in 2025.
Crochet was the lone bright spot for the Chicago White Sox in a miserable 2024 season.
While the team lost 121 games, Crotchett started 32 games and posted a record of 6-12 with a 3.58 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 146.0 innings.
Crochet was involved in trade talks through the 2024 season, but he ended up staying put.
Now that the offseason is here, trade talks have continued as Crottet has put together the best season of his career since entering the league in 2020.
The Phillies already have a one/two punch of starting pitchers, including Aaron Nolan and Zach Wheeler, so adding Crotchet will only make the rotation better.
Crochet most likely wants to join a team ready to contend next year, and the Phillies might be the best.
