The New York Yankees have had a rollercoaster of emotions since losing the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After losing the heartbreaking series with the Dodgers, the Yankees also lost their superstar player, Juan Soto, who was this year’s top free agent and signed with the New York Mets.
Although the Yankees lost Soto, they acquired several key pieces for next season, including free agent starting pitcher Max Fried, a trade for relief pitcher Devin Williams and a trade for outfielder Cody Bellinger.
The Yankees also signed first baseman Paul Goldschmidt from the St. Louis Cardinals, and MLB insider Joel Sherman revealed what he’s hearing about the Yankees’ possible pursuit of Nolan Arenado.
“I couldn’t find anybody with the Yankees that would say, yes, we’re interested in him,” Sherman said, via Channel X’s New York Post Sports .
“I couldn’t find anyone with the Yankees who would say, yes, we’re interested in him.”

The Yankees are in need of a third baseman, and Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros has been rumored, but Arenado is another conversation.
Although Arenado’s name has been floated, Sherman revealed that no one in the Yankees organization has confirmed the interest.
Arenado is an MLB veteran who entered the majors in 2013 with the Colorado Rockies, where he played eight seasons before going to the Cardinals for the last four.
Arenado played 152 games with the Cardinals in 2024 and batted .272 with 16 home runs, 71 RBI and a .719 OPS.
Sherman notes that neither Bregman nor Arenado are a good fit for Yankee Stadium, but he’s seen crazier things happen.
Arenado has been mentioned in trade rumors in the past, so he will be a name to keep an eye on to see if he is moved before the 2025 season.
