An insider believes Juan Soto could make a surprising move in free agency

New York Yankees shortstop Juan Soto has dominated headlines this offseason as he leads this year’s free agent class.

Multiple teams have reportedly held talks with Soto, including the Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

While most people believe Soto will stay in New York, either with the Yankees or the Mets, it’s unclear what he’s looking for in his next contract.

MLB insider Jon Heyman weighed in on whether he thinks Soto will simply take the deal for the most money.

“I think it’s very likely he’ll get the biggest deal he’s offered. I wouldn’t say it’s a guarantee,” Heyman said, via Foul Territory.

Heyman was asked if he thought there was a chance Soto would leave money on the table when he finally makes his decision.

While Heyman thinks it’s possible, he ultimately believes Soto will accept the biggest contract offered to him.

While Soto played for the Yankees, he spent two years playing for the San Diego Padres, and his departure from San Diego led some to think he didn’t like being on the West Coast.

Heyman doesn’t believe that’s true and says he thinks the Dodgers have a real shot at signing Soto.

The 26-year-old has not offered any insight into his decision-making process, so fans will have to wait to see where his destination will be.
