The New York Mets ended their Cinderella run in the 2024 postseason by losing the National League Championship Series to the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
After beating the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies as a no-hitter, the Mets were one series away from making the World Series.
Now that the season is over, the Mets will look to the 2025 season, where some people are suggesting they should sign the starting pitcher.
MLB analyst Jim Duquette suggests the Mets sign Max Fried of the Atlanta Braves this offseason.
“The Bigs can take Freed away from their division rival,” Duquette said.

There are plenty of big-name starting pitchers entering free agency this offseason, including Blake Snell, Corbin Burns and Fried.
Duquette apparently believes Fried could be on the Bigs’ radar not only because of his hitting ability, but because he was coming over from their National League East rivals, the Braves.
Fried started 29 games for the Braves in 2024, going 11-10 with a 3.25 ERA and 166 strikeouts in 174.1 innings.
The Mets haven’t won the NL East since 2015, when they went to the World Series.
With the Philadelphia Phillies and Braves in the same division, the Mets could benefit greatly from moving Fried away from the divisional team.
While Fried may not be viewed as a top free agent starter, Duquette seems to believe it would make the most sense to pursue him from the Braves.
