An agreement is reached: Matchroom confirms Opetaia vs. Cinkara, canceled bid and disappointment follow

Matchroom today revealed that an agreement was reached and the wallet messengers were canceled for a fight between IBF Cruiserweight Champion Jai Opetaia and #1 Huseyin Cinkara. The date and location of the fight will be revealed soon.

Opetaia’s unpopular opponent

Fans are not satisfied with the news, but consider it another unpleasant opponent for the unbeaten Opetaia (28-0, 22 COs). They want to see Jai standing up in a one -game against the WBA and WBO champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez or a defense against Chris Billian Smith. The 40-year-old Cinkara (23-0, 19 CO’s) is not what they are looking for.

Fans will be more tolerant of Opetaia who defends against Cinkara if he comes from a fight against one of the talented fighters in the division. It didn’t happen. So people criticize this fight against Cinkara and consider it another Gimme for Opetaia to drop his record.

The Germany-born Cinkara has an impressive record at first glance, but his opponents were largely unclear during his nine-year professional career. He achieved a number 1 ranking and a compulsory position at the IBF, but mainly because the Cruiserweight section does not have talent.

The fighters tend to bypass the division and go straight to heavyweight for the larger pay days if they have the size. Opetaia, 30, has chosen to stay with Cruiserweight rather than following former Undevisited Cruiserweight champion, Oleksandr Ulsyk, to move to heavyweight.

Fans objected imar

The larger pay days and challenges await heavyweight for Opetaia, but for some reason he was chosen to stay with Cruiserweight and defend at little known opposition. He is a big fish in a small dam in this section.

The criticism that Jai received is based on his lack of ambition. They see him as a 30-year-old man who hesitates to abandon the Cruiserweight section to move to heavyweight because he is afraid to take risks.
