If you thought it would take some time to Scottie Scheffler to solve off-season rust, think again.

The World No. 1 played his first new round PGA Tour season on Thursday, and he showed why he is the best in the world. Playing La Quinta Country ClubScheffler carded nine birdies and no bogeys to shoot a nine-under 63. He hit 17 of 18 greens Thursday, and he birdied the only one he missed.

Despite his stellar round, Scheffler is not on top. He tracks TOUGH AND Pierceson Coody by one, as these two players went 10 under Nicklaus Tour Course at PGA West.

For Friday’s second round, Scheffler will take to the Nicklaus Tour Course.

You can watch the second round of the American Express on TV via the Golf Channel, which will air beginning Friday at 4:00 PM ET. PGA Tour live on ESPN+ will offer exclusive broadcast coverage beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday, as well as syndicated coverage throughout the day.
